Facilities

Waenhuis Guest House offers the following Facilities :

	Caravan Park
	Due to increasing demand, we have developed a number of stands for caravans. Visitors are welcome to book
	stands for caravans as well as tents. We have the normal kitchen facilities available with hot water for showers
	and other domestic uses. Come and enjoy being part of our bushveld environment during your camping stay.

Dining Hall: Where our meals are

served. Breakfast and Supper is

prepared for guests on Request

and by prior arrangement

Waenhuis has Conference Facilities for up to groups of 40 delegates

Conference Facilities - Our main conference

room can accommodate groups of up to 30

delegates (currently being refurbished)

Mini Conference room for up to 12 delegates

Accommodation, meals, tea & coffee, snacks,

mints and fruit juices can be arranged

Pub: Waenhuis has a cosy well

stocked private pub where guests

can unwind and have a drink

Indoor Recreation: We have a Dart Board &

Pool Table where guests can enjoy a bit of

friendly rivalry while enjoying a drink

Waenhuis has a sparkling pool and a

lovely area where guests can relax

and have a braai (barbecue)

Star Gazing - Because there are no city lights

or pollution the star gazing is exceptional !

4X4 Clubs Welcome ! Arrange Corporate or

Family Fun days or weekend breakaways

with trails which are not that difficult to

negotiate.

Waenhuis Guest House Fochville - One of the many Kiepersol (Cabbage) Trees that grow on the mountain

Waenhuis has some captivating examples of

the local flora & fauna on the mountain !

There are hundreds of endemic Protea trees

(suikerbos) as well many statuesque Kiepersol

(Cabbage) trees. The yellow flowers of the

Acia trees make a beautiful show when in

bloom. Many beautiful veld flowers are also

found on the mountain as well interesting

insects (see an example on the Protea below)

Panoramic Views can be enjoyed from the top

of the mountain ! On a clear day one can see

beyond Potchefstroom to the west. If one

was to look east you will see as far as

Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark.

Other Activities and Places of Interest :

Vredefort Dome - World Heritage Site

	The Vredefort structure is currently regarded as the biggest and oldest clearly visible impact structure
	on Earth, with an impact crater approximately 90kms wide & 20 kms deep .
	It is estimated that the extreme impact event took place some 2000 million years ago, and was
	caused by a Meteorite measuring 10 kilometers in diameter or larger than Table Mountain.
	Vredefort is approx. 40 minutes away from the Waenhuis Guest House.

Golf

	Golf is a popular pastime in this area, with two 18 Hole Golf Courses and one 9 Hole Mashe course
	in close proximity to Waenhuis Guest House. The Courses are the Blyvooruitzicht Golf Course
	Tel: (018-789 9276) and the Goldfields West Golf course (018-781-1570).
	The Mashe course is situated at the Western Deep Levels Gold Mine.

Game Viewing

	The Kraalkop Nature Reserve is just 10 minutes away. It features a game viewing trail where 14 of
	South Africa's antelope species can be viewed as well as zebra, blue wildebeest, ostrich and giraffe.
	The reserve is situated in the picturesque Gatsrandte and features a hilly landscape with fresh water
	springs and indigenous flora in abundance.

There is an airfield approx 5 Kms away from Waenhuis Guest House.

Shopping - The Town of Fochville

	The country town of Fochville is just 10 minutes away by car, where arguably the "cheapest" priced
	supermarket in South Africa (as reported in the media). The President Hyper, can be found in the
	town centre.
	The town of Carletonville is 20kms from Waenhuis Guest House. Here many of the well known
	chain stores can be found and shoppers will be able to find anything which they might require.
	Major shopping centres exist within 30 minutes. Key West in Krugersdorp, the Westgate complex
	in Roodepoort and the new Clear Water Mall in Strubens Valley, Roodepoort.

Horse Riding

Horse Riding, at special rates can be arranged at the neighbouring farm for our guests, on request.

Hunting

	Bow hunting as well as rifle hunting excursions can be arranged for hunters. A game ranch offering a
	large selection of plains game, is situated approx.15kms from Waenhuis Guest House.

Parys, the Vaal River & Fishing

	The Vaal River is just 30 minutes away. There are many choice fishing and camping spots, as close
	as just 20 minutes away on the R500 towards Parys,
	The quaint riverside town of Parys boast numerous interesting antique shops and art galleries.
	The town also forms of the part The Vaal Meander.
